Album Covers

In my mind, the square photography format is almost instantly associated with music, obviously because of exposure to album covers. Album covers have historically been a great outlet for photography, and record labels such as ECM, with an extraordinary catalog of aesthetically pleasing album covers to go along with equally magnificent music, have significantly influenced my idea of photography. When shooting a square frame (whether a natural 120 film 6×6 or a cropped digital image) it’s always fun to think, “how would it look like as an album cover?” So here is a collection of album covers without albums.
